Snow is finally here!  Many of the kids have been coming to school without boots.  They then go out and come back in with freezing cold, soaking wet feet!  PLEASE make sure they leave the house with appropriate winter wear.  Gloves, hats, and boots are extremely necessary.

This Friday is a half day and also the day students should have reached 100% of their A.R. goal. As of right now only 3 students are not yet at their goal. If yours is NOT there yet, you will get an additional email telling you so.  They have until Friday. They can do it!

Update 1/14/13

The ski trip is this Friday!  I still have a couple of kids who do not have their forms turned in.  And I’m well aware that you may very well have signed them…. the kids just didn’t get them to me!  So if you wouldn’t mind, please fill these out asap! I need them by tomorrow!

As far as the trip itself, here are the specifics….
Kids arrive at school at the normal time and report to the gym! No going back to the classroom.  All students are to ride the bus to Timber Ridge…. not with parents. Parents can meet us at Timber ridge.

Students may RIDE HOME with parents but not too.  A weird liability thing…

Don’t have the kids wear their heavy winter gear to school… they’ll fry on the bus on the way to the resort. They also have to sit inside for about 20 minutes and get a verbal “do’s and don’ts” from the managers of the resort… and we don’t want them sweating.

For the kids who ordered school lunches, we will have those with us.  For kids bringing their own lunches PLEASE pack extra food.  The kids really burn the calories out in the cold!
An extra pair of gloves and socks are highly recommended… especially since gloves often get wet by
repeated use on the tow rope.

Kids will need to be dressed in layers.  Fashion should not be considered… only warmth!   Carharts are fine… or even a pair of sweats over pants if the kids don’t have snow pants. Hats or something for the kids ears is a must!  When they come down those hills, the wind chill is quite low!

Sunglasses or goggles are highly recommended.

Students who are riding home on the bus will need to be picked up at 5:30. Please have any student who isn’t riding home on the bus sign out with Mrs. Vandermei before they leave.

Week of December 10th

Two events for this week.

On Thursday the 13th at 2:45 - 3:15, our class will have the opportunity to shop at the Holiday shop to buy gifts for their families. (Items from $1.00 - $5.00) Students are NOT required to buy anything.  If they're worried about losing their money I can lock their envelopes in my closet.

Friday the 14th  we will be gone all day to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.

In the beginning of the year you all signed permission slips and made lunch choices.  If you didn't sign up for a school lunch, you will need to provide a sack lunch for your child. An email was sent home recently with the initials of the kids who are getting school sack lunches.

All parents who are attending as chaperones will also need to have a lunch packed for themselves.

Finally.... I take pictures of the kids throughout the year.  At holiday parties, field trips and at special events. If you would like a copy of these pictures, please send me either a rewritable C.D. with your name on it or a jump drive (also with your name on it) so I can download them for you.

Christmas is two weeks! Yikes!
