Illnesses are Rampant!

Illnesses in 5th grade and in many other grades are very high right now. We're disinfecting daily, making them wash or sanitize their hands often but.... if its going to get them its going to get them! Symptoms range from an upset stomach to throwing up... followed by recovery..... and then a week or so later the stage 2 shows up in the form of a high fever, and flu like symptoms with a sore throat. Many of theses second cases ( including mine) have been strep throat. If your child complains of a sore throat for more than two days please get them in and get them checked. We've had 11 confirmed cases of strep throat in our room (Sadowski's) alone.

March Update!

YAY!!!!!! We're back up and running! I'm going to list as many things that I can think of on this post that are upcoming.... just in case it won't let me back in again!

Hockey Game

The 2nd quarter accelerated reader goal for this marking period is tomorrow ( Wednesday) Please review your sheet (that we sent home at the beginning of the year) to see if you signed your child up for sack lunch from school, to bring a lunch, or to buy a lunch at the game.

Friday March 9th is a late start day. Students will be picked up by the busses later.

Spring Field Trips

We've got a couple of great trips coming up. First, is the Rock and Mineral show at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds on Friday May 4th. We will leave Sunset on a bus at 12:00... which means we'll have an early lunch that day.... and will arrive at the rock and mineral show at around 12:45. The kids will have about an hour to explore tables and booths filled with common and rare specimans of rocks and minerals. There will be a gold mine that they can buy tickets for. This involves dropping car into a mine and then sifting the minerals they get out of the mine just like gold panning....Everyone gets some great specimans from this.

There are tables of rocks that the kids can buy from 10 cents to $2.00 each. Some of my biggest amethyst pieces have come from this show.

And jewelry? If you want real gem stones at FANTASTIC prices this is a show to go to ! Parents will need to drives separate due to space, but you are welcome to meet us at the show!

Wolf Lake Hatchery / South Haven Trip

On May 25th we will take our best trip of the year. We will travel first to Mattawaan to visit the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery and to take a tour of the Hatchery as well as a walk around the holding ponds on a nature walk.

We'll leave the fish hatchery around 11:00 and head to South Haven's south beach. Kids can bring blankets, towels, footballs and frisbies picnic and play on the beach. They will be allowed to get in the water up to their knees, but no deeper.....too many issues with rip currents around the piers. More information on this trip will follow after spring break, but this is a GREAT trip for parents and kids alike!
