This blog will be your place to check in weekly for upcoming events, spelling lists, upcoming tests and areas we are currently studying, and necessary items for upcoming field trips.
Communication
My school email address is tsadowski@vicksburgschools.org Please use this or my school phone (269) 321-1530 for any communication with me throughout the year.
I will also be sending home a classroom brochure with my personal cell phone number to be used on an EMERGENCY basis. Anything can and will happen with kids, so I won't bother to define what I mean by "emergency" so I'll let you make that call. I DO text...... and I try to check my cell phone after evening horse chores ( 8:00). I'm usually in bed by 10 though..... so if you text or call me after that I probably won't be able to respond until 6:00 a.m. the next morning. Please don't allow your child to use this number to just "chat". I'm extremely busy after school each night.
In addition to this blog, I will also send home an infinite campus email once a week that includes the spelling lists for your child for the week. Your student will either be list 1, 2, or 3..... I will let you know with an individual email which list your student is on. I will usually title the email "Sadowski Classroom Update"
For those that DO NOT have access to email or a computer ( in which case you probably won't even be reading this) I will print out a few hard copies of both the blog and the infinite campus email once a week. These will be sent home with students who do not have email access.
Sunset Lake a Focus School?
For an explanation of why Sunset is now a focus school, there will be two meetings that you can attend on the night of Open House. The first meeting will be 6:45, the 2nd will be @ 7:15. Feel free to attend either meeting.
However... in a nutshell the BEST explanation I can give you regarding this new label can be explained best by a video clip from the Superintendent of Oakland County Schools. The link is:
I encourage you to log on and watch this 12 minute video. It will completely clear up how it was possible that Sunset got this label despite the fact that Sunset had the highest acheivement scores of both tobey and Indian on the meaps this past year in reading, math and science, as well as the highest 5th grade science scores in all of Kalamazoo County.
Open house is Thursday, September 6th from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
